SOOCAS Spark Electic Toothbrush Review

The SOOCAS Spark is a budget-friendly option among the electric toothbrushes developed by Xiaomi’s sub-brand. This toothbrush is a refreshing return to the basics and simplicity in a world where data collection and complexity seem to be the norm. It’s worth noting that Xiaomi has previously released electric toothbrush models with an app, but the SOOCAS Spark stands out for its simplicity and ease of use.

Despite its low price point, the SOOCAS Spark toothbrush offers a range of useful features. The toothbrush has two different modes, one with gentle vibrations and the other with higher frequency vibrations. Additionally, there is a zone switch reminder. Which ensures that you don’t spend too much time brushing a single area. The toothbrush also has a built-in two-minute timer, which is a great feature for those who want to ensure they are brushing for the recommended time. Overall, the SOOCAS Spark toothbrush is a great option for those looking for an affordable yet feature-rich electric toothbrush.

Unboxing

The packaging of the Soocas Spark Electric Toothbrush is designed to be fully recyclable and made of durable and sustainable cardboard material. Inside the packaging, Soocas keeps things simple and easy to understand. Upon opening the package. You will find the main body of the electric toothbrush, which has been crafted with precision and care to deliver optimal performance. Alongside the main body. You will also receive a green plastic brush head specially designed to provide a deep clean for your teeth and gums.

You will also be provided with a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, allowing you to easily charge the toothbrush at home or on the go. To make travel even more convenient, Soocas also includes a green plastic travel case, which securely holds the toothbrush and brush head and keeps them protected while moving. This thoughtful packaging makes it easy to use and easy to stay organized. So you can always have a fresh and clean smile.

Design

The electric toothbrush is traditionally associated with a large plastic body and a small rotating head with soft bristles. However, the SOOCAS Spark offers a different design with a long but narrow main body and a detachable brush head resembling a manual toothbrush. While I would have liked to see some spare pieces included in the package, the device’s price tag may not have prevented it from being included.

The SOOCAS Spark has an aluminum shell covered by a gray matte finish and a cut-out that allows the button to break through. The button is the only one on the entire toothbrush, and its role is to turn them on and off the device and switch between the two available modes. The base of the toothbrush measures about 6 inches (15.2cm). And after attaching the head, it does gain an additional 3.2 inches (8cm). However, the device is lightweight and easy to maneuver.

When traveling, the manufacturer has added a plastic cover inside the package that allows you to carry the entire SOOCAS Spark (with its head still attached). While this may keep things cleaner, it may be better to disassemble the device.

USB-C port

At the bottom of the base, it’s possible to detach a plastic cover and expose the USB-C port. A short USB-C cable is also included in the package. Before attaching the brush head, the metallic piece that vibrates when the SOOCAS Spark is on can be seen. Surrounding it is an LED that lights up green when the electric toothbrush is in Gentle Mode and solid blue when in Cleaning Mode. The LED will flash red when the battery level is low.

DuPont bristles

The head of the toothbrush uses DuPont bristles, which are made of a form of nylon. They are soft and hard, which should be enough for most people. However, I am not a fan of DuPont products, so I would have preferred to see some actual boar hair or alternatives.

But, considering the price point, it’s better than the common nylon offering. The SOOCAS Spark is built to be water-resistant and is IPX8-rated, meaning it should survive lengthy immersions under water. This may be a bit overkill for a toothbrush, but it is not something to complain about.

LED

The toothbrush is designed with a unique feature that incorporates a LED light positioned directly under the brush head. This LED light serves an important function by providing visual cues to the user. When the toothbrush is switched to the gentle mode. The LED light will illuminate in a bright green color. This green color reminds the user that they are currently in soft cleaning mode. Which is ideal for sensitive teeth and gums.

On the other hand, when the toothbrush is switched to Cleaning mode, the LED light will change to a cool blue color. This blue color is a visual indicator that the toothbrush is now in Cleaning mode, designed for a more thorough cleaning experience. The Cleaning mode utilizes a higher level of vibration and oscillation to remove plaque and debris from the teeth and gums.

Lastly, the toothbrush is also equipped with a battery level indicator indicated by the LED light. When the toothbrush’s battery level is low. The LED light will turn red. It serves as a reminder to the user that it’s time to charge the toothbrush. This feature ensures that the toothbrush will always be ready to use when needed, without the inconvenience of running out of battery power in the middle of a cleaning session.

Performance Experience

First, let’s discuss the most crucial aspect of a toothbrush, the hardness of the bristles. It is the only part that comes into contact with your teeth. I previously mentioned that they are somewhere between soft and hard. Those with sensitive teeth and gums may have preferred softer bristles.

Next, let’s address the availability of head replacements. A quick online search revealed numerous options from both Xiaomi and third-party sources. So, there is plenty of opportunities for this aspect.

An ideal electric toothbrush should effectively remove plaque from the front, back, and in-between teeth. All within two minutes or less. The SOOCAS Spark may not be on par with devices that cost nearly $200. But it still provides a better result than a manual toothbrush. The bristles can reach in-between teeth. And even in separate gentle modes, the toothbrush still feels abrasive enough to clean teeth thoroughly. However, this may not be suitable for sensitive teeth and gums.

The motor of the SOOCAS Spark can reach up to 30,000 vibrations per minute, which can be felt when using the Cleaning mode. This can aid teeth whitening but may be too aggressive for other purposes. To properly clean your teeth. You need to be more deliberate with the toothbrush’s movements, unlike other, more expensive options.

Additionally, the SOOCAS Spark alerts you to move to the next quadrant every 30 seconds. And there is a two-minute timer for each sensor. A pressure sensor to temporarily pause vibrations when pressing too hard on the teeth was a nice addition, but this could be included in future versions.

Battery

It is important to note that the manufacturer of the SOOCAS Spark claims that the device can last up to 40 days on a single charge. While I have not personally tested the apparatus for that prolonged period. I have been using it regularly for the past week. Specifically, I have been utilizing the device three times a day and have yet to notice any indication that the battery will soon require recharging.

Based on my experience. It is reasonable to assume that the manufacturer’s claim of a month-long battery life is entirely achievable. Additionally, it is worth noting that when the battery does need to be recharged, it takes approximately 2 hours to reach a full charge from 0%. As the device features a 600mAh battery.

Verdict

The SOOCAS Spark is a truly great electric toothbrush that exceeds all expectations. Not only is it incredibly affordable, but it also boasts a superior build quality that can withstand being submerged in water. Additionally, it offers many features typically found in far more expensive options. But is it truly a good toothbrush? The answer is an unequivocal yes. With two different vibration modes to choose from. With a timer and switch-sides notification, and impressive battery life. The SOOCAS Spark is a fantastic option for anyone looking for an affordable yet high-quality electric toothbrush.

Of course, there are always better options, but at this price point. You’ll likely find anything that can match SOOCAS Spark’s combination of value and performance. It truly is a toothbrush that offers the best of both worlds. And it’s no wonder it has gained such positive impressions and reviews among users. Overall, the SOOCAS Spark is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for an affordable and high-quality electric toothbrush with a wide range of features and robust build quality. It’s a toothbrush that is sure to leave a good lasting impression.
