Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Review

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Review: As Fuss Free As Robot Vacuums Get 11The early days of robot vacuums were not great. While they are intelligent enough to map out your house. Often times they might hit a snag and get caught between cables, or suffer from the occasional pet violence and turtle over.

With the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, the company sought to make robot vacuums more intelligent and require far less intervention from users.

Design

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Review: As Fuss Free As Robot Vacuums Get 11

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has a rounded design, as with most robot vacuums in the company’s product lineup. It is also equipped with the PreciSense LiDAR navigation system, that constantly scans its surroundings to help map out the “minefield” of obstacles when it is in operation.

At the front, you will find two cameras housed within the lens, which is a core component of the new ReactiveAI 2.0 obstacle avoidance system. It has one camera used to detect light in the RGB spectrum, while the other performs 3D scanning of structured light.

At the bottom lies the components that suck, literally. You will find the vacuum, brush and the mop with a water tank.

The main draw of the S7 MaxV Ultra among the other robot vacuums in the S7 series is the Empty Wash Fill Dock, allowing the robot to self-empty the waste, self-clean, self-wash and self-refill the water tank without the need of human interference.

Performance

When it comes to how it performs, the S7 MaxV Ultra is pretty much fuss free thanks to the dock extending its operating window without the need of me intervening.

Setting Up

Once you get it set up and connected to the app, it will perform its initial mapping of the house. While its busy, it will also clean up as it goes.

You can also name each rooms in the house once it has mapped, and designate “no-go” zones for both vacuum and mop so that you don’t end up sending it to the balcony or straight into the car porch.

Suction

At its Max+ setting, the robot vacuum is capable of a suction power of 5,100Pa, which is more than double the predecessor models. It does a great job regardless if its flat floor tiles, or low pile carpets. It also managed to clean up most of the pet hair that is lodged in between the carpets.

Mop

With more baseline robot mops, I often had to refill the tank once it is done mopping halfway, but with the dock, it could just mop my house for 2 cycles before I had to refill the dock. Keep in mind that my house is 1,800 square feet, so your actual mileage may vary depending on usage.

Cleaning performance is great too, as it uses Vibrarise Sonic Vibration, a series of hyper-sonic fast vibrations at up to 3,000 times per minute, capable of removing even dried stains on the floor.

Self-Cleaning

One thing I used to dread about using robot vacuums is the constant cleaning I had to do after every mop cycle: clearing out the grey water and cleaning the mop head. Luckily the Empty Wash Fill Dock now does it for me, only requiring me to check in from time to time.

The dust bag in the dock can hold 2.5 litres of waste. I only had the vacuum for two weeks, and only barely filled 1/5 of the waste bag.

Sensors

What’s the use of a good vacuum if it gets stuck all the time? Fortunately, the S7 MaxV Ultra is equipped with the latest generation of LiDAR and ReactiveAI 2.0 obstacle avoidance system. It manages to avoid all of the obstacles in the house, such as cat toys, food and water bowls, while sucking up all the rogue cat litter that fell outside of the litter box.

Real Time Video Call

The sensors also act as a camera for you to perform video calls with anyone inside the house. I could even stalk my cats at ground level and nag them to not waste any kibbles while I am out and about.

Charging

Roborock claims that the S7 MaxV Ultra charges 30% faster than before, now at about 6 hours to get to full charge. Battery life is similar to the predecessor, able to last about 3 hours on low setting.

Final Thoughts

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can be described as the Formula 1 of robot vacuums. It is as fuss free as it can get. While I would recommend to anyone, we need to address the elephant in the room, its price.

With an MSRP of RM11,398, it is hard to justify being lazy at this point. However, Roborock current has the robot vacuum on sale for RM5,699, with an add-on of RM0.99 for the Lava Drying Module.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can be purchased on Roborock’s official store on Shopee and Lazada.
